Its taken me 18 years to visit this amazing place. I’ve driven passed so many times and thought “oh, I must go” and then forgotten all about it. Finally, yesterday I went and I’m so glad I did. Black Rocks is a weathered outcrop of Derbyshire gritstone just outside Wirksworth and just off the High Peak Trail. After quite a steep climb stand near the edge and enjoy truly spectactular views across the valley towards Matlock Bath and and Riber Castle. Footpaths from here lead up through the woods to Cromford Moor, or continue on your journey along the High Peak Trail after a brief stop in the cafe!
