Walking in the Peak District you are surrounded by signs of industrial history on all sides. Yesterday I went for a walk at Baslow & Curbar Edges and was reminded that the gritstone used to make the grinding stones for the Sheffield steel mills was extracted from these areas.

The Baslow, Curbar, Frogatt and Stanage Edges run for miles through the National Park. These huge escarpments beloved by rock climbers provide the most incredible views of the Derwent Valley and are a must for any visit to the area. Every time I go, which is very often, I cannot resist taking photographs and at the moment the heather is out, which makes it even more special.
