We are very lucky at The Old Station House to be surrounded by history. The history of quarrying in Derbyshire continues to this day and many of our local walks pass the evidence of earlier activities, with grinding stones in particular strewn across – and adding to – the environments we pass through.

This scene is on the way to Stanton Moor where the Nine Ladies Stone Circle takes us right back to the Bronze Age when our ancestors used standing stones to mark their most significant celebrations around Equinoxes and Solstices
