The woods around Rowsley have some lovely little waterfalls that add extra interest to my local walks, whether on the way to Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell or just pottering around Rowsley Village in the late afternoon. sometimes they are raging – after periods of heavy rain and you can hear them way before you actually see them. At other times, like now, after an unusually dry winter the water just gently tumbles over the rocks. In the summer I have been known to strip off my boots and socks on occasion and just dangle my feet in the cool water, a very welcome pitstop in the heat.
