This is the perfect time for a walk in the woods. The bluebells are already out in abundance carpeting the ground and there are also wood anemones wild violets and celandines everywhere. The wild garlic will be out soon too. The walks through the woodland hills surrounding our beautiful village are an absolute delight and all this will be followed in late spring by forget-me-nots, crane’s bill, vetch, helleborine, clover, cow parsley and buttercups galore into early summer.

When you come and stay at The Old Station House we provide you with a folder full of guided walks around the village, through the local woodland whether to just wander in the evening sun or head off to Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, the Nine Ladies Stone Circle on Stanton Moor or Peak Rail Heritage Steam Railway – all within 1 1/2 hours easy walking distance from the house.
